Ramblings
of a Demented Soul
A predicament!
I read comics like Shades of Grey that have buffers of 24, 26 comics
ahead of time, and I read comics like Zebra Girl that update whenever
the artist has time to work on the comic, and I wonder.
I know that as an artist, I need a buffer. I cannot pump out a quality
comic a week. It's hard NOW when I'm not doing anything else, it's
going to be insane when school starts up again. But I can't think of
how to do that without stopping the updates for a while to get ahead. I
can barely do a page a week, much less work ahead of myself.
But that means that I need to start writing the scripts before I start
work on the comic itself--which is tricky for me, since I don't really
know what will fit on the page or what's best for the comic before I
draw the comic itself. More often than not, the script gets written
AFTER the art is done. More and more I find myself lacking in story,
even though my art is improving by leaps and bounds. (did you see this
week's comic? It is FANTASTIC! I NEVER expected to be able to do that
quality of work.)
But if you're a writer, why would you write for someone else's story?
Using someone else's characters? How could you get into that?
Help me out, you guys, how do I fix this?
Enjoy the comic,
